Ohio's praises we will sing, O-hi, O-hi,
The football games a dead sure thing, O-hi O-hi,
Oh! High over all we'll boot the ball,
Ohio State will never fall,
And it's O-hi-O-hi, O-hi O-hi-O.
And it's O-hi-O-hi, O-hi O-hi-O.
Ohio State men are husky guys, mighty wise, for their size,
Oh! they will grab you by suprise, SURPRISE, keep your eyes
Open On this field, some guy gets peeled,
We won't say who by their fate is sealed,
And it's O-hi-O-hi, O-hi- Ohi-O.
And it's O-hi-O that's going to win the game.
This song was in use in 1908-9 at Ohio State, as it was published in several football programs during these seasons. Civil War songs used as fight songs were a rarity at Ohio State, as only the Marching Through Georgia melody was adopted for two other songs. Ohi-Ohi Ohio was not a major song, as Ohio, Varsity and Wahoo Wahoo were more popular songs that were in use. By 1910, this song faded from use.
