Songs of The Ohio State University

Rally Ohio!

Rally Ohio, rally again,
And we'll follow our team to vict'ry.
Shouting and pleading, demanding, entreating,
We're sending our yells to the sky!

SPOKEN: Sh! Boom! Rah!

Eyah, Ohio,
And "Fight, boys, let's fight."
Stand by the team with all your might!
Tramp, tramp, tramp, the boys are marching;
Rally once more and we're sure of victory.

SPOKEN: Locomotive, Ohio! Sh! Rah! Rah! Rah! Ohio! Ohio! Rah!

Rally Ohio, rally again,
And we'll follow our team to vict'ry.
Shouting and pleading, demanding, entreating,
We're sending our yells to the sky!

SPOKEN: Sh! Boom! Rah!

Eyah, Ohio,
And "Fight, boys, let's fight."
Stand by the team with all your might!
Tramp, tramp, tramp, the boys are marching;
Rally once more and we're sure of victory.

One of the more rousing entries in the 1916 Ohio State Alumni Association Song Contest, Rally Ohio! incorporates one of the widely used cheers of the day into the song. It is for this reason that this song is provided here. Many of the song contest entries were generally Alma Mater songs, while Rally Ohio!, Rush On! Rush On!, Men of Ohio and Across the Field were the only fight song entries. It also worth noting the Philip M. Foote, class of 1919, was one of the few enrolled Ohio State students to participate in the song contest.

Rally Ohio won the Athletic Board Cup for the Best Rally song in the 1916 Ohio State Alumni Association Song Contest.
